Animal shelters and humane societies throughout the U.S. are equipped to scan for InfoPET microchips. When a microchip is found, the staff calls InfoPET's National Recovery Hotline with the microchip's unique identification number. Day and night - 365 days a year, InfoPET provides shelters and humane societies with the information needed to quickly return the pet to its owner, as well as vital medical information, thus decreasing the amount of time the pet is held and the costs incurred. Information about Trovan® microchips and readers can be found on our Products page or at www.Trovan.com. InfoPET repairs Trovan® readers, including the LID-500 Hand-Held Reader. The most common LID-500 problem is failure of the reader's ni-cad battery to hold a charge, requiring replacement of the battery. Reader repair details can be found at Reader Repair. There is no charge to animal shelters or humane societies for repair or replacement of your Trovan® LID-500 Hand-Held Reader(s) used to scan stray animals since these readers are on loan from InfoPET.
